4Runner owners have been asking us for black JDM style headlights/corners for quite some time. The wait is now over! Many companies have tried to make these lights but have had issues with quality. We've tried to weed out the junk and offer the best would could find. Replaces your old style 96-98 frosted headlights and corners with new blacked-out versions. To install the lights you first need to remove the grille. Rather than try to unclip the grille from looking over on top, look at it face forward. If you look at it at this angle and look underneath the grille, you will see a series of lever like clips. You will see 3 on the top, 2 in the middle and 3 on the bottom. You can use a flathead screwdriver to push down on these clips, and the grille will come off very easily. The trick is just getting just the right tension--too much and the tabs are hard to depress--too little and they snap right back in the locked position. Inserting a toothpick in the clips after they are depressed is a good trick and makes this a snap.
Once the grille is removed, you need to remove the screws from your old headlights. Remove the screw that holds the bottom metal sill plate. Instead of removing the sill completely, you can swing it away from you to get to the hidden screw behind it, which also holds the headlight in place. Now install the new lights in reverse order.
