We've had many complaints about the 4Runner's lack of power, and feel of hesitation when getting on the gas. Jason Burtman, of Burtman Industries just doesn't let any product get in the door. When he heard about this product, he shook his head and said, "Prove it!" So, we sent some test units to some of our customers and asked them to report back to us. Immediately, we started getting calls asking if they could keep it. Only then, did we start offering this product. This is an upgrade that you can feel with normal everyday driving, not just on the track at redline like most other performance upgrades! What is the Sprint Booster? Most cars in the 21st century have replaced the more conventional metal throttle cable for an ECM (Electronic Control Module) that translates how hard the pedal is pushed into an electronic signal in order to provide power to the wheels. This is also known as "Drive-By-Wire", and can have the unfortunate downside of delayed response and subdued acceleration. This of course can create problems in certain situations such as up-hill starts, quick gear changes, and passing. The Sprint Booster FIXES this delayed throttle response on your 4Runner by providing increased acceleration time (eliminating delay) on the drive-by- wire unit by continuously measuring and converting the digital signal and providing the ECM (Electronic Control Module) with a new and altered signal for much quicker response. This improves response, increases pedal input sensitivity and delivers more impressive off the line performance you can really feel. It's a simple plug-n-play installation which takes a few minutes and delivers instant response throughout the power band. If you are still confused, simply put, this device amplifies the signal from your gas pedal to the throttle body. It eliminates the delay that is inherent on the Drive by Wire technology on certain vehicles. The 4Runner, being one of them. Burtman Industries works directly with the factory and can even have these custom made for other makes makes and models, be sure to ask. At low revs, the engine responds at approximately half the time in comparison to before, see chart above The delay time accelerating in 3rd and 4th gear and the engine in the mid-range, is almost zero. Yes, if someone really wants to steal your car, they will find a way, but this is just another layer of protection may make them take someone else's car. WILL NOT VOID YOUR WARRANTY: As far as dealership concerns there is a law called the Magnuson Moss Act. Sprint Booster works manufacturers OWN safety protocols so it's a no worry option. How do you install it? This is the best part. No cutting, no soldering, nothing but a few seconds. It plugs INLINE with your current wiring. You unplug the cable coming off the ECM, which is behind the gas pedal, and easy to get to. You unplug it, plug this in the middle, and the other end connects back up to the factory wiring. As much as I love my 2020 4Runner, the throttle response was driving me nuts. After a lot of research, watching a lot of reviews and going from the experiences from others, I bought the Sprint Booster from Jason with fingers crossed. Had to admit I was a bit skeptical, but this product is exactly as advertised! My 4Runner now feels alive, throttle response is smooth and controlled without the mashing of the pedal to accelerate. Buying the sprint booster for my 2019 4runner trd pro has drastically improved the throttle response! I am so happy I bit the bullet on this instead of the pedal commander or other "copycat" models out there. It's simple, easy to use, and really easy to install and get going if you follow the instructions step by step. It's so small by the way, that you can hide it anywhere if you don't want anyone snooping around (aka the dealerships). Keep in mind though that this is not gonna make your 4runner any faster than a corvette, it's meant to improve throttle input and reduce the lag it takes to get our trail rated behemoths going. Aside from the product, I want to give a shout out to Jason for being so customer service oriented. This alone will make me come back in the future for more products! Just wanted to drop a quick note and say "thank you" for the booster. It arrived on Friday and I installed it right away. Took it out for a test drive and couldn't really tell that big of a difference at first so I was on the fence about whether or not it really worked. When my wife took it out for a whirl however, we bumped it up to RED 9 and wow, what a difference!! The 4Runner feels so much more alive and responsive. As others have said, this is how the car should have came from the factory. So yes, add me to your list of clients who are completely satisfied with the booster. Thanks again for all your help! I was on the fence for months reading threads and researching as much as I could about this mod before I got off the fence. This was mainly because I never owned a drive by wire vehicle before personally. I was also afraid this was just another one of those performance chips that all over eBay that are nothing more than a resistor or something that does very little in the way of performance other than some that just advance timing a bit. This device completely changed the feel of my driving experience in my runner, which had plenty of torque, but just didn't feel as fast as it should. Now, every time I get in it, I'm happy with the performance and it now feels like it should. The cool thing is that you can tailor the throttle response to suit your driving style. I tried several settings, one at a time, and left them for a couple of days to evaluate before moving on until I found the sweet spot for me. If my daughter or wife were to borrow the truck though, I would likely put it to a more stock setting just because they wouldn't be used to driving with that level of responsiveness. For me personally, it was the best money I've spent on any mod so far to this truck, other than maybe the exhaust, which also added greatly to the driving experience. This was the missing link that brought everything else together, and I'm sure most just assume (like I did initially) that it's just a snake oil product.
