We've had many complaints about the 4Runner's lack of power, and feel of hesitation when getting on the gas. Jason Burtman, of Burtman Industries just doesn't let any product get in the door. When he heard about this product, he shook his head and said, "Prove it!" So, we sent some test units to some of our customers and asked them to report back to us. Immediately, we started getting calls asking if they could keep it. Only then, did we start offering this product. This is an upgrade that you can feel with normal everyday driving, not just on the track at redline like most other performance upgrades! What is the Sprint Booster? Most cars in the 21st century have replaced the more conventional metal throttle cable for an ECM (Electronic Control Module) that translates how hard the pedal is pushed into an electronic signal in order to provide power to the wheels. This is also known as "Drive-By-Wire", and can have the unfortunate downside of delayed response and subdued acceleration. This of course can create problems in certain situations such as up-hill starts, quick gear changes, and passing. The Sprint Booster FIXES this delayed throttle response on your 4Runner by providing increased acceleration time (eliminating delay) on the drive-by- wire unit by continuously measuring and converting the digital signal and providing the ECM (Electronic Control Module) with a new and altered signal for much quicker response. This improves response, increases pedal input sensitivity and delivers more impressive off the line performance you can really feel. It's a simple plug-n-play installation which takes a few minutes and delivers instant response throughout the power band. If you are still confused, simply put, this device amplifies the signal from your gas pedal to the throttle body. It eliminates the delay that is inherent on the Drive by Wire technology on certain vehicles. The 4Runner, being one of them. Burtman Industries works directly with the factory and can even have these custom made for other makes makes and models, be sure to ask. At low revs, the engine responds at approximately half the time in comparison to before, see chart above The delay time accelerating in 3rd and 4th gear and the engine in the mid-range, is almost zero. Good for when you don't want someone joyriding at the dealer or when you don't want one of your kids beating your vehicle around NEW - LOCK OUT MODE: Lock out mode let's you set a pin and if someone breaks in and tries to steal you truck, the gas pedal is locked out and they are going nowhere! Ex, say your park at an airport or a place your aren't comfortable with. Many say it gives them more peace of mind. Yes, if someone really wants to steal your car, they will find a way, but this is just another layer of protection may make them take someone else's car. WILL NOT VOID YOUR WARRANTY: As far as dealership concerns there is a law called the Magnuson Moss Act. Sprint Booster works manufacturers OWN safety protocols so it's a no worry option. How do you install it? This is the best part. No cutting, no soldering, nothing but a few seconds. It plugs INLINE with your current wiring. You unplug the cable coming off the ECM, which is behind the gas pedal, and easy to get to. You unplug it, plug this in the middle, and the other end connects back up to the factory wiring. As much as I love my 2020 4Runner, the throttle response was driving me nuts. After a lot of research, watching a lot of reviews and going from the experiences from others, I bought the Sprint Booster from Jason with fingers crossed. Had to admit I was a bit skeptical, but this product is exactly as advertised! My 4Runner now feels alive, throttle response is smooth and controlled without the mashing of the pedal to accelerate. At risk of sounding like a fan boy I absolutely LOVE the sprint booster and now I can't imagine my 4 runner without it. I debated the purchase for a year and now wish I would have installed it sooner. I think I've settled on the green sport setting 5 after about 30 minutes of testing. Just to make sure it wasn't a placebo effect I turned it off and accelerated...there's definitely a big difference. I ordered it last week and Jason shipped it right away. I removed the gas pedal with the 2 bolts during the install, so everything was much easier to reach. Took about 15 minutes to install, plus the 10 minutes of mandatory leave your door open time. Ordered mine on Monday, it arrived on Wednesday...great shipping! I installed it this evening, set to Green 9 and took a spin. WOW!! It really shines during part-throttle acceleration from cruising speed, e.g. passing, accelerating uphill. Also wakes things up during acceleration from dead stop, more of a positive launch when you put the pedal down than the factory buffered gradual throttle opening. I dialed it back to Green 5 for errand-running just to get a feel for it, might try the Red settings after I get a good baseline. Thanks for the great price, it was enough to pull me off the fence. Just ordered from Jason. This is my second 4runner and although I'm fairly satisfied with the power on and off road, there have been many times when I've either been trying to pull out into traffic, merge onto the highway or get around an 18 wheeler and the lack of throttle response has left me in some hairy situations.
